Writing Challenge Accepted

A dear friend of Destiny’s posed a challenge of writing a poem with the following formula. We couldn’t resist accepting. Care to guess whose is whose?

Poem 1

I am a thrill ride at a children’s amusement park with mild twists and turns.

I wonder if kids find me full of surprises, or if I am a yawn to young and old.

I hear small-talk and I shut down.

I see discovery, wonderment, and boredom.

I want to be interesting, unique, and engaging.

I am a thrill ride at a children’s amusement park with mild twists and turns.

I pretend that I have everything under control.

I feel anxious when things deviate without ample warning.

I touch my enlarged pregnant belly.

I dream of gentle, warm breezes.

I hope for peace in all circumstances.

I am a thrill ride at a children’s amusement park with mild twists and turns.

We are thrill rides.

We like to be unpredictable.

We wish for exciting security and stability.

We try to be balanced.

We know we are loved.

We are thrill rides.

Poem 2

I am smooth jazz and rock-and-roll.

I wonder if I’ll ever untangle myself from my past.

I hear angels chattering inside my head.

I see the future through my soulmate’s eyes.

I want to wrap my legs around a beautiful man and feel the warmth of his hips against mine.

I am smooth jazz and rock-and-roll.

I pretend that I am a supermodel and make sensual faces in the mirror.

I feel like getting high and traveling the galaxies.

I touch my daughter’s cheek when she sleeps.

I dream. Just that. I simply dream.

I hope to find peace within myself before it’s too late.

I am smooth jazz and rock-and-roll.

We are smooth jazz and rock-and-roll.

We like to have dance parties.

We wish we could walk naked all the time.

We try to make the best of things.

We know that no matter what, we have each other.

We are smooth jazz and rock-and-roll.
